Apple Approved As Bidder in Nortel Patents Deal

Green signal has been given to Apple for the plan they had in mind about the bid for wireless technology patents. They are to buy these patents from the Canadian Firm Nortel, which is reportedly bankrupt. There is going to be an auction for the selling of the patents and rights of the firm.
It was reported in the Wall Street journal that the firm can now be accepted as a qualified bidder after passing the various standard checks for the same.

Pandora Media, an online music service is offering its IPO at $16 with 14.7 million shares. Initially it was decided to put the target price between $10 $12 but later on $16 was decided.
BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield recommended to investors to stay away from this IPO on Friday. He also said that Pandora is easy to use, free to access, works across a growing array of platforms in/out-of-home and has a de minimis amount of advertising compared to terrestrial radio.

Google's bid of $900 million for 6,000 Nortel patents and patent applications has been approved by the Justice Department's antitrust authorities.

Reports revealed that LulzSec targeted many gaming companies like Minecraft and Eve Online. On the other hand, an anonymous has vowed that he would be targeting the Federal Reserve Chairperson, Ben Bernanke.
Hacker group LulzSec claimed that it took the website for CCP Games’ EVE Online as well as Minecraft and Escapist Magazine.
The group also targeted network monitoring firm FinFisher "because apparently they sell monitoring software to the government or some s**t like that", LulzSec tweeted.

According to the new report, it was revealed that Apple’s Airport Utility application has the references of the 4th generation Time Capsule and 5th generation AirPort Extreme devices.
MacRumours and 9to5 Mac have confirmed that the software updates contained references to the fourth-fifth generation of Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme respectively.
The Airport Utility update also contain references of the update being stored on the devices but MacRumours have claimed that it is not a new development and that it is the old version in a new format.

A market analyst, Stephen Baker, of retail research firm NPD Group said that the decision of Apple to sell the Mac OS X Lion upgrade through its own Mac App Store is likely to affect the traditional retailers of the product.
The action taken by the company will not adversely affect the company's bottom line. However, the release of an OS upgrade is a great opportunity for the company to connect with its customers.
On Monday, Apple made an announcement that it would start selling Lion on the Mac App Store sometime in the next month for $29.99.
