Routine Update for Apple’s AirPort Utility Application
According to the new report, it was revealed that Apple’s Airport Utility application has the references of the 4th generation Time Capsule and 5th generation AirPort Extreme devices.
MacRumours and 9to5 Mac have confirmed that the software updates contained references to the fourth-fifth generation of Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme respectively.
The Airport Utility update also contain references of the update being stored on the devices but MacRumours have claimed that it is not a new development and that it is the old version in a new format.
They have claimed that people should stop purchasing a Time Capsule or AirPort Extreme for the next few weeks.
Apple's documentation for the 10MB downloads lists only that it "resolves an issue that caused the AirPort Utility to unexpectedly quit during setup".
There were rumours regarding these updates that Apple would be shifting its base stations to run iOS.
iOS based AirPort base station could allow some additional features like pint and media streaming services, cached wireless software updates and iCloud services.
People who are familiar with the matter, AirPort Utility would support the software updating caching.
