Android Fragmentation Problem Solved to a Major Extent
Piper Jaffray's WWDC Developer Survey’s Summary is released on Monday, which revealed about the new survey of attendees that was announced about at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
According to the new attendees’ survey, it was found that approx half of iOS developers, who are attending the conference support Android whereas only 7% write applications for the Mac. The above results were confirmed before they were out as the 45 developers were polled by Analyst Gene Munster and his team at the Apple conference, where they had to support Apple platforms. It was clear from the polls that though despite writing applications for Android, all 22 developers out of 47 also said that they prefer iOS monetization and ease of development over Google's Android platform.
The last year’s picture has confirmed that the shipments containing devices running the Android mobile operating system surpassed Apple and the iPhone, which confirmed that Android has seen tremendous growth but apart from above the reports also confirmed that the iOS users are more likely purchasing paid applications. Upon which, Android developers have expressed concern and even Google has said it is "not happy" with slow application sales.
"We believe our survey shows that Apple's strong developer base is one of its greatest assets in mobile and differentiates iOS from the early days of the Mac, suggesting iOS is better positioned than Mac OS to maintain and grow market share," he said.
