California's Coastal Agency Denies U2 Guitarist Edge Mansions over Malibu
The U2 guitarist The Edge, originally named as David Evans, has finally lost a long running battle with the California's coastal development agency over property rights. As per reports, the well known guitarist has been pressing to build five mansions overlooking Malibu, Calif., which has been rejected by the officials.
The commission was said to have voted 8-4 to turn down the well talked about 156-acre project in Malibu on Thursday, referring it as a potential threat to the environment of the locality.
Defending the decision, Peter Douglas, Executive Director for the commission, claimed, "In my 38 years, I have never seen a project as environmentally devastating as this one. An environmentally sensitive person would never pick this site to develop”.
Even though the musician assured the authorities to make the mansion one of the most environmentally sensitive in the world, the commission fears that it might invite other large development groups to propose such project in such a clean location.
Apparently, the guitarist, though not present in the meeting in Malibu, has heavenly invested in the project and is reported to file a lawsuit, expecting to get a green signal from the Court.
One of the representatives of Evans, Fiona Hutton, present in the meeting, was of the opinion that the guitarist just expects to get a fair treatment from the commission.
