The plans for making a new $356 million death row complex at San Quentin State Prison have been cancelled by Gov. On Thursday Jerry Brown Governor Brown has said that the state could not justify the expense in the given time of huge cuts to education and other essential services.

The approval of plans for making new death row complex was approved in 2003 by Gov. Gray Davis. The work was in progress under Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The complex was designed to keep 1,152 inmates, allowing California’s damned population to grow. At present the number of prisoner are less than 700 who are awaiting death sentences.

But now the construction a $356-million death row at San Quentin prison is cancelled by Gov. Jerry Brown on Thursday. He has stated that it would be unconscionable to spend such a huge amount for the condemned inmates as the state is cutting budgets for education and other social services.

According to Brown, the state has been cutting essential programs for children, the disabled and seniors which are very painful, so the state of California cannot defend a massive expenditure of public dollars for the worst criminals.
