Google launches new YouTube redesign focused on Channels

Giving the increasingly popular YouTube a notable revamp on Thursday, December 1, Google launched its new YouTube redesign which has a busier front page with a social-networking emphasis; and also offers several options to content creators for creating their Channels.

The YouTube redesign - which is a clear reflection of the updates that Google made of late to the YouTube app within its Google TV - was, over the last one week, accessible only by insiders and high level YouTube users who showed photos and videos of what the new design looked like. However, with the official launch on Thursday, the redesigned YouTube can now be accessed by anyone, at YouTube. com.

The new YouTube design gives great prominence to the streamlining of the actual video page. With Google's recent statistics having revealed over 3 billion YouTube views, it is clear that the company is aiming at enticing more and more users to watch more videos.

Revealing that the YouTube refresh is largely about channels, and how the users make and curate them, Google has mentioned on the `Get more into YouTube' page that the users who login to the new YouTube will be greeted with recent activity from their subscriptions.

Further adding that it will now be possible for the YouTube users to browse as well as make additions to the existing Channels on their homepage, Google has also said on the new page: "Connect with Google+ and Facebook to share your favorites with friends. There's plenty to discover, so login and give it a spin."
